Omens, Ampersands, and Friday the 13th
Local indie-folk-rock musical artist Carling Berkhout '19 spoke to The Brattleboro Reformer about her latest album, Omens.
“I think my Ź College education definitely influenced this,” Berkhout told The Brattleboro Reformer. “I studied a very specific kind of writing, or genre, which is called dirty realism. And, a lot of that is hyper-focused on word choice, and specifically on consecution — so, like, what words follow the words and how they’re all in a relationship to each other, sonically.”
