Course Description

Summary

This course offers a hands-on introduction to electronic components, oscillators, sound transduction and MIDI from an artistic perspective. Students will be guided through theory, construction and/or modification of their own set of electronic sound instruments. Areas of study will include noise generators, MIDI controllers, ambient RF transducers, converting speakers into powered microphones, hacking found objects and in depth discussion of meaningful methods of human interaction with electronics. At the end of the term, students will perform or record a piece with their new hand made tools. Course materials are estimated to cost $60 per student. Students should check at the College bookstore for availability of these materials.
