Course Description
Summary
This course is designed to help students with fundamental tools and techniques of the basics of photography to develop and incubate their knowledge and technical skills such as usage of digital camera, lighting, composition, sense of moment, theme, use of color, storytelling and preparing for basic printing. In addition, this course intends to foster a creative and critical awareness of how images should be produced and constructed by enabling students to take photos with digital cameras using a manual setting; apply and manage practical techniques; creative vision about the scene; and explore images through story-telling and photo critiques. Focusing on stand-alone photos – candidate and pose – this course provides a unique opportunity for students to nurture their photography skills and build their awareness of subjects.
Digital SLR cameras will be available from the college for students to use throughout the term and Photoshop, and Lightroom will be available on all our 12 workstations in the Photo Digital Lab.
Students will be required to have a Mac-compatible external hard drive and inkjet photo paper to complete assignments.
