Course Description

Summary

Democracy in the United States is being threatened and countless Americans do not understand enough of our country’s history or political systems to comprehend the threat. This has led to inaction by the American people, media outlets that share disinformation and individuals who care more about power than participating in democratic governance. To reach this point, it took time and planning, and in order to dismantle the crisis and restore our democracy we must both understand how we got to where we are and work together to fix it. Americans must understand what democracy is, how to recognize when it’s under threat, and what steps need to be taken in order for it to thrive.  To that end, this course works to develop tools, resources and strategies for teachers, parents, and students to accomplish these important goals.
