Course Description

Summary

The lineage of translating the figure into sculpture form is extensive. How do we make a likeness thru portraiture in consideration of traditional and contemporary processes? How do we make a sculpture that evokes an expression of the human body but doesn’t necessarily recreate the outward appearance? We will investigate through a series of projects; sculptural responses to this problem. The emphasis will be on experimentation through analog and digital processes explored in wood, steel and clay. Regular image presentations will compliment individual and group critiques.
