Course Description

Summary

This seven-week course will bridge the physical and virtual world in computer science, and involve building the hardware and software needed to develop a simple temperature and humidity sensing unit using a Raspberry Pi single-board computer and simple low-cost electronic components. Students will learn basics of Python programming and data collection, combined with general small electronics skills and programming skills needed to interact with those components. Sensor Workshop is open to students of all experience levels, and will provide students an opportunity to develop and share skills by building, testing and deploying a physical object running their software, as well as to imagine the possibilities for future projects and study in computer science.
