Course Description

Summary

Weekly private instruction in jazz piano to be arranged with instructor. Explore and develop skills and knowledge required to effectively play non-classical piano repertoire. Styles covered: blues, reggae, salsa, bossa-nova and jazz. Create bass lines, chord voicings, stylistic rhythms, melodies and improvised solos. Corequisites: Participation in Music Workshop, Tuesdays 6:30-8pm

Prerequisites

Basic piano skills and a rudimentary knowledge of music notation. Audition and/or permission of the instructor. Auditions will take place on Wednesday, November 29 from 6-7pm in Jennings 335A.
