Course Description

Summary

This course seeks to answer the question: What are the avenues available for youth to mobilize politically in ¿­ÐýÃŹÙÍø? The course will be structured around a team research project where students will practice skills such as interviewing, conducting surveys, participant-observation research and conceptual mapping. Students will survey various community organizations, political parties, NGOs and campus organizations. Beyond the central organizing question, we’ll look at what mobilizes youth political organization, what the major hurdles are for organization and what the wider social and political implications for the community may be.

Prerequisites

Permission of the instructor, with preference going to students with significant experience in conducting social science research and those planning on conducting such research in their senior work.
