Course Description

Summary

Designing lights on stage is not just designing looks for each moment, but determining how lighting changes over time. At which moments do we choose to change it, and what triggers those changes? When do we choose not to change it at all? Students will learn how lighting emotionally affects us in real life, and how we interpret that emotional effect and transfer it to the stage. Students will present research, minimal drafting, and sketches, and learn how to discuss lighting in real life productions. It is structured for both introductory students, and those with previous coursework / experience. Corequisite: Students must sign up for a Dance/Drama Lab.
