Course Description

Summary

This seven-week course is an introduction to the archive and how it has been central to artistic production of the 20th and 21st centuries. Though the course is only a brief introduction, there will be an emphasis on how the archive has been utilized by artists to subvert and question conventional notions of the archive and related power structures. Students will be given short research assignments that will allow them to conclude the seminar with presentations of their own research.
