Course Description

Summary

This course is a hands-on workshop for electroacoustic music, focusing on improvisation as a key tool for exploration, creation and collaboration. In this course, students will develop skills in individual and collaborative music performance with electronics, including completely electronic instruments and hybrids that combine acoustic instruments with digital/analog signal processing or amplification. The group may perform graphic, electronic or notated scores, as well as develop original works, improvisations, and the incorporation of multimedia elements. Electronics will be viewed broadly, including simple amplification, and students with no prior background are encouraged to participate. Students will become familiar with examples of electronic and electroacoustic music performance across a variety of genres and practices.
