Course Description

Summary

This production course draws on the energy, intensity and criticality of avant-garde film and contemporary video art practices to introduce students to the fundamentals of working in video and the language of film form. Emphasis on technical instruction, formal experimentation, and critical vocabulary is balanced in order to give students a footing from which to find their own stakes in the medium. On-campus students have access to introductory-level Film/Video equipment to produce their projects once they have completed the relevant technical workshop. Remote students may enroll in this section of Intro to Video, but should first contact the instructor to discuss the specific limitations of and possible accommodations for off-campus participation. Remote students will be asked to do some work asynchronously.
