Course Description

Summary

This course aims to provide a critical understanding of democracy by examining what is happening in Belarus, with the space for students to respond creatively. Together we will explore different historical and current perspectives, media coverage (and what is not covered), personal accounts, and conversations with activists. This class will draw on writings by scholars, artists and journalists whose work focuses on Belarus. We hope to include guest visits on Zoom.  Through close examination, students will find ways to engage with the current moment through writing papers, creative practice, and/or collaborative projects.
