Course Description

Summary

This course examines some of philosophy’s deepest and most central questions. What is the meaning of life? Is there a point to pursuing the things we pursue in life? How can we bring more meaning and happiness into our lives? Should we fear death? We will explore these and other questions from a variety of perspectives, engaging with historical and contemporary works by philosophers, scientists, religious thinkers, and literary and cultural figures. The aim of the course is to give you an opportunity to begin thinking through these questions with some degree of rigor and discipline, and to help you form your own views about what ultimately makes for a meaningful life.
