Course System Home Terms Fall 2016 S.230 From Start to Veto: Renewable in Vermont

Course Description

Summary

Senate bill 230 was constructed in response to the interest of Vermonters in having a say in where renewable energy is sited in their communities. Although an important piece  of legislation to Vermonters, the constant interplay among science, emotion, business and an overwhelming amount of data caused this bill to regularly be in jeopardy of failing and was one of the last bills for which the House and Senate finalized an agreement. This class will cover the the arrival of renewable energy policy in Vermont to today’s policies, with an emphasis around the complexities as well as the successes and failures of S.230. This course will suit those interested in renewable energy policy and the legislative process.
