Course Description

Summary

In this pop-up module we will talk about the election and what comes after. We will talk about different ways of approaching voting--single issue voter? party stalwart? on the fence? trying to take everything into account? We will explore together what issues and concerns drive our thinking about the election and voting tendencies. We will watch the final presidential debate of this election season (Wed Oct 19 @9pm) together. We will also talk about what changes with a presidential election and what it is like to serve in the Federal Government as well as on a Congressional staff. We will discuss how a president's policy positions are advanced (have you heard of the Plum Book?) within the Executive Branch and where ideas for those policies can originate as well as how they take root. Guests include a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and a former Hill staffer. Others TBD.
