Course Description
Summary
This class presents an open environment for creativity and expression through electronic music composition. Students will create music with sounds recorded in the real world, while studying electronic music techniques from the rich experimental and popular traditions of the past half century. We will cover the theory and practice of digital signal processing for audio and explore the nature of sound, listening deeply to music and the world around us. Later in the term we will explore the relationships between sound and image, applying our newly learned techniques to multimedia and intermedia environments. Final compositions will be presented in the Carriage Barn in multichannel surround sound.Prerequisites
